Products and Promotions

List what your brand sells, import products and services from your website, and add promotions that show on your calendar and that Orsa AI can mention.

The Products tab is your brand’s catalog: the products and services you sell, with prices, features, photos and any promotions you’re running. Orsa AI reads it when it writes about what you sell, so it gets names and prices right.

You can add items by hand, or let Orsa find them on your website and import the ones you pick. Promotions with dates show up on your calendar.

Open it from your brand’s Products tab. It’s in the row of tabs at the top of any brand page. The tab is optional for brand setup.

Quick start (5 minutes)

  1. Open your brand’s Products tab.
  2. Click New product.
  3. Type a Name, like Sourdough Loaf, and pick Product or Service as the Type.
  4. Add a short Tagline, like “Baked fresh every morning”.
  5. Leave Pricing model on Fixed price, and type Price 8.50.
  6. Click Create product.

Your product appears in the list with the tag Active. Orsa AI can now use it.

Add a product or service

  1. Click New product.
  2. Fill in the fields:
Field What to enter Example
Name (required) What it’s called Deep Tissue Massage
Type Product or Service Service
Tagline A one-line hook “Melt away a week of desk work”
Description What it is, who it’s for, what makes it different “60 minutes of focused pressure for sore backs and shoulders.”

Pricing models

Pricing model Shows in the list as Use it for
Fixed price USD 8.50 One set price
Starting at Starting at USD 40.00 Prices that go up with options
Hourly rate USD 60.00 / hour, or your Price unit Time-based services
Custom quote Custom quote Work you price per job
Free Free Free samples, consultations, classes

Price is greyed out for Custom quote and Free. If you leave the price empty on another model, the list shows “Price not set”.

Product status

The Status decides whether Orsa AI uses the item.

  • Active: on sale now. Orsa AI can use it. This is the default.
  • Draft: you’re still writing it.
  • Inactive: not on sale right now, like a seasonal item.
  • Archived: no longer sold. It shows faded in the list.

When Orsa AI looks at your catalog, it only sees Active items. Use the All statuses filter at the top to find the others.

Add images

Product images come from your brand’s file library.

  1. Upload the photo to your Assets first. See Assets Library.
  2. In the product form, click Link images from your brand library….
  3. Pick one or more images.

The first image shows as the product’s thumbnail. To remove one, click the small × on its corner. Linking a file to a product from the Assets library does the same thing. See Link a file to a product.

Import products from your website

Orsa can read your website’s product or service pages and suggest items for your catalog. You pick which ones to import.

Before you start: your brand needs a location on the Info tab, added from Google Maps. Until then, the Products tab says “Add a physical location (in the Info tab) to sync products from a website page.” You also need AI credits left on your plan.

  1. Open your brand’s Products tab.
  2. Under Location, pick the location these products belong to.
  3. Under Products page URLs, paste the address of a page that lists what you sell, like https://sunrisebakery.com/menu. Click Add.
  4. Add every page that lists products for that location. One shop or menu page is fine. If each service has its own page, add each one.
  5. Click Preview products. The button shows Fetching… while Orsa reads the pages.
  6. Review found products opens with every item it found, all ticked.
  7. Untick anything you don’t want.
  8. Click Import. You’ll see a message like “Imported 6 products”.

Keep the Products tab open while it fetches. If you leave the page, the results are lost and you’ll need to click Preview products again.

You can also add products pages when you edit a location on the Info tab. See Edit or delete a location.

What the import does

In Review found products, each item shows its name, Product or Service, tagline, description, price and features. Two tags may appear:

  • Already in catalog: you already have an item with this exact name for this location. Importing it updates that item with the details found on the page.
  • Promo found: the page advertises a sale or discount on this item.

When you click Import:

  • New items are added as Active, linked to the location you picked.
  • If the page had a photo of the item, it’s saved to your brand’s files and linked to the product. Items that already have an image keep theirs.
  • A found promotion is added to the product as Active, with no dates. Open it and add Starts and Ends dates so it shows on your calendar. See Add a promotion. Importing the same page again doesn’t add the same promotion twice.

Nothing is added until you click Import. Found items you don’t import aren’t kept. If you change your website, wait a day before previewing the same page again. Results from a page are reused for 24 hours.

Add a promotion

A promotion is a sale, discount or special offer on one product or service.

  1. Find the product in the list and click Add promotion.
  2. Fill in New promotion:
Field What to enter Example
Name What you call the offer Spring Sale
Description The details “20% off every massage booked in April”
Promo price The sale price 72
Discount % The discount, from 0 to 100 20
Starts / Ends When it runs. Both days are included 1 April to 30 April
Status Draft, Scheduled, Active or Ended Scheduled
  1. Click Create promotion.

Ends can’t be before Starts. Otherwise you’ll see “End date can’t be before the start date”. For a one-day offer, pick the same day for both.

To see a product’s promotions, click Promotions at the bottom of its card. Each one shows its price or discount and dates. Use its ⋮ menu to Edit promotion or Delete promotion.

When a promotion counts as running

A promotion is running when its Status is Scheduled or Active and today is between its Starts and Ends dates (both days included).

  • While it’s running, the promotion shows Active now, and the product card shows On promo: and the promotion’s name.
  • A Scheduled or Active promotion with no dates counts as running now.
  • A Draft or Ended promotion never runs, whatever its dates.
  • Otherwise it shows the Status you picked.

When Orsa AI looks at a product, it also sees the promotion that’s running now.

Example: a bike shop adds Winter Tune-Up Deal to its Full Service, at $79 instead of $99, from 1 to 28 February. During February the card says On promo: Winter Tune-Up Deal, and Orsa AI can see the $79 offer when it writes about the service.

Where your products are used

Orsa AI. Orsa AI can look up your active products and services, with prices, features, location, CTA link and any promotion running now. Ask things like “Write three captions for our Deep Tissue Massage” or “What are our cheapest services?”.

@product mentions. In an Orsa AI chat, type @product and pick an item to point Orsa AI at it. See Mentions and Files.

Ideas. Add a Product field to an idea group to tag ideas with the products they feature. See Content Groups and Custom Fields.

Assets. Link photos to products, then filter your files by product. See Filter by type, tags and products.

Calendar. Promotions with both a Starts and an Ends date show on your calendar under the Promotions layer, titled like Spring Sale · Deep Tissue Massage. Click one to open the Products tab. You can’t drag a promotion on the calendar. Change its dates here instead. See Calendar.

Edit or delete a product

Edit: click the ⋮ menu on the product, then Edit. Change any field and click Save changes.

Delete: click the ⋮ menu, then Delete, then Delete again. This also deletes the product’s promotions. To keep its history, set its Status to Archived instead.

Find a product: type in Search products, or use the All types and All statuses filters.

Ideas for using products and promotions

Plan content around a sale. Add the promotion with dates, then plan posts around it on the calendar.

Example: a bakery adds Pumpkin Week to its Pumpkin Loaf, at 15% off from 20 to 26 October. The calendar shows the week as a bar, and they plan a teaser post the Friday before.

Get prices right in captions. Keep prices and features up to date so Orsa AI quotes them correctly.

Example: a yoga studio lists Drop-in Class as Fixed price $22 and 10-Class Pass as Fixed price $180. Asked “Write a post about our class passes”, Orsa AI uses the real prices.

Import a big menu in minutes. Let the import do the typing.

Example: a café adds https://example.com/menu for its Main Street location, clicks Preview products, unticks the drinks it no longer sells, and imports 18 items.

Tips for the best results

  • Write a tagline and key features. Short, specific points give Orsa AI something to say beyond the name.
  • Keep statuses current. Set seasonal items to Inactive when they’re off the menu, so Orsa AI doesn’t promote them.
  • Always give promotions dates. A promotion without dates counts as running now, so Orsa AI may mention an offer that’s over.
  • Link plain pages for import. Pages that list items as text work best. Interactive ordering or booking pages often can’t be read.
  • Use one page per category on a long site. Only the first part of a very long page is read, so a long single page may miss items.
  • Check imported items. The details are filled in by AI. Check prices and types before you rely on them.

Common questions

I don’t see Preview products or Products page URLs. Your brand has no location yet. Add one from Google Maps on the Info tab. See Add a location from Google Maps.

I get “Add at least one products page URL for this location first.” Paste a page address under Products page URLs and click Add, then click Preview products.

I get “Invalid URL format” when adding a page. Use the full address, starting with https://, like https://sunrisebakery.com/menu.

I get “We couldn’t read any product content from…” Orsa couldn’t find readable text on that page. This often happens with interactive ordering pages. Link a plain menu or services page instead.

I get “No products or services were found on those pages.” The pages were read but listed no products. Check you added the page that lists your items, not your home page or contact page.

Some pages show “Could not fetch”. Orsa couldn’t open those pages, but the rest were read. Check the addresses open in your browser, then try again.

I get “AI credit limit reached”. Your brand has used its AI credits for this period. See Plans and Billing.

I previewed again but got the same results, even though I updated my website. Results from a page are reused for 24 hours. Try again tomorrow.

My promotion isn’t on the calendar. It needs both a Starts and an Ends date. Edit the promotion and add them.

A promotion I set up isn’t showing Active now. Check its Status is Scheduled or Active, and that today is between its Starts and Ends dates.

Orsa AI doesn’t mention one of my products. Check its Status is Active. Orsa AI only sees active items when it looks at your catalog.

I imported a product that I already had, and now its description changed. Items marked Already in catalog are updated from the page when you import them. Untick them next time to keep your own wording.
