Reviewing and Editing an AI Design

Look through an AI design's versions, ask for revisions, approve it, star favorites, download it, or open it in the design editor.

When Orsa AI finishes an AI design, it appears in the Preview on the right of the request. From there you can:

  • Flip through the slides and earlier versions.
  • Ask for changes with a revision.
  • Approve the design.
  • Star versions you like as favorites.
  • Download it, or open it in the design editor with Edit.

AI Design is in beta. To set up a new request, see AI Design Requests. Your requests are on the AI Design tab of the Create page.

Quick start (5 minutes)

  1. Open a request with the status Review from the AI Design tab.
  2. Use the arrows under the preview to look at every slide.
  3. If something’s off, type what to change under Request Changes, then click Submit Revision from v1.
  4. When a version looks right, select it and click ✓ Approve.
  5. Click Edit to open it in the design editor and finish it there.

Example: a pet groomer’s first version has the right layout but a stiff headline. They write Love the layout. Make the headline more playful, like “Fresh cuts, happy pups”, and submit. Version 2 has the new headline, so they approve it.

What the preview shows

The Preview changes as the request moves along:

What you see What it means
Your design will appear here The request is still a draft. Fill it in and click Generate Design.
Building your design… Orsa AI is making the first version. With On Demand this usually takes about a minute. With Batch it takes longer, and you’ll get a notification.
Design ready! A version is ready. You’ll see the slides, the version picker and the buttons.
Revision in progress — showing previous version Orsa AI is working on a revision. You can keep looking at the last version meanwhile.
Design generation failed No design could be made. See Common questions.
✓ Design Approved The design is approved and can’t be revised anymore.

The preview updates by itself. You don’t need to refresh the page.

Slides and versions

Slides: use the ‹ and › arrows, or the dots, under the preview. The counter shows where you are, like 2 / 5.

Versions: every revision makes a new version. They’re listed under Version History as v1, v2 and so on. The newest one says (latest).

  1. Click a version to show it in the preview.
  2. The line under it says which one you’re viewing, like Viewing Version 2 (Current).

Downloads, Edit and revisions all use the version you’ve selected.

Ask for a revision

A revision asks Orsa AI to change a version based on your feedback. You can ask for one while the request is in Review.

  1. Select the version you want to change.
  2. Under Request Changes, write what you liked and what to change. Feedback is required. The button stays greyed out until you type something.
  3. Click Submit Revision from v2 (the number matches the version you picked).
  4. You’ll see “Revision requested”. The new version appears when it’s ready.

Revisions use the request’s Generation Mode: On Demand revisions usually take about a minute, Batch revisions take longer and send you a notification.

Be specific. Name the slide and the thing to change.

Example: Slide 1: headline is great. Slide 2: the photo doesn’t fit, use the product shot instead. Slide 3: make “Book now” bigger and use our coral color.

A revision works from the version you picked. It doesn’t start over: Orsa AI is asked to change only what your feedback mentions and keep the rest.

Approve a design

  1. Select the version you’re happy with.
  2. Click ✓ Approve. You’ll see “Status updated!”.
  3. The request’s status becomes Approved, and the preview says ✓ Design Approved.

Good to know:

  • Approve only shows while the request is in Review.
  • After approving, you can’t ask for more revisions. You can still look at every version, download it, and click Edit.
  • If the request has an Approver, only that person or the brand’s Owner and Admins can approve it. For anyone else, ✓ Approve is greyed out. If there’s no Approver, anyone on the brand can approve.

Favorites

Star a version you like so you can reuse its look later.

  1. Click the small star on a version’s button under Version History. It turns yellow.
  2. Click it again to remove the star.

Starred versions show up under Favorite in Design Inspiration when you set up a new request. See AI Design Requests. Everyone on the brand can see and use the brand’s favorites.

Open it in the design editor with Edit

Edit turns the selected version into a regular design, so you can finish it yourself.

  1. Select the version you want.
  2. Click Edit. The button shows Creating….
  3. The new design opens in a new browser tab in the design editor.

What you get:

  • A new design called Untitled Design with the status Draft, in the Designs tab of the Create page. It has the same size and number of pages as the AI design.
  • If the request is linked to an idea, the design is added to that idea.
  • The design’s Info panel → Repurpose tab lists the AI design request under From.
  • Each version can be turned into a design once. Clicking Edit again on the same version opens the same design. To get a separate design, pick another version.

Changes in the editor don’t change the AI design request.

Download SVG or PNG

Under the preview, click:

  • SVG to download each slide as its own SVG file, named like design-v2-page1.svg.
  • PNG to download a ZIP file of PNG images, one per slide, named like design-v2.zip.

Both download the version you’ve selected. For more formats, open the design with Edit and use the editor’s Download. See Exporting Designs.

Ideas for reviewing AI designs

Compare two directions.

A real estate agent asks for a revision with a dark background, then flips between v1 and v2 under Version History and approves the one the team likes.

Build a favorites library.

A café stars every AI post that got great comments. Next month, they pick one under Favorite so new posts keep the same look.

Finish the details yourself.

A boutique approves v3, clicks Edit, swaps in this week’s product photo in the design editor, and schedules the post from Publish.

Tips for the best results

  • Say what to keep, too. “Keep the colors and layout” stops a revision from changing things you liked.
  • One round, a few clear changes. Three specific changes work better than a long list of small wishes.
  • Revise before you click Edit. Changes in the editor don’t go back to the request, and you can’t ask Orsa AI for a revision of the editor copy here. Get the words and layout right with revisions first.
  • Use less text per slide. Slides with a lot of text can be too much to open in the editor.
  • Star your best versions. Favorites are the quickest way to get the same look in the next request.
  • Approve when it’s final. Approving ends revisions for that request.

Common questions

The Submit Revision button is greyed out. Type your feedback first. Feedback is required. If you see “You’ve used all your AI credits for this plan. Upgrade your plan or buy an AI Credit Pack to submit a revision.”, your brand is out of AI credits. See Plans and Billing.

I don’t see Request Changes or Approve. The request is approved, so it can’t be revised. Or a revision is still in progress. Wait for it to finish.

I see “This design has too much text to open in the editor. Try regenerating it.” One of the slides has too many separate pieces of text for the editor. Ask for a revision with less text on that slide, for example Shorten slide 2 to a headline and one sentence. Then click Edit on the new version.

I see “Design generation failed”. Orsa AI couldn’t make a design. Go back to the AI Design tab and create a new request with the same settings. If it keeps happening, contact support.

My Batch revision is still In Progress. Batch revisions are sent off every 15 minutes and come back at a later check. Batch revisions only go through when you revise the newest version, the one marked (latest).

I clicked Edit but nothing opened. Your browser may have blocked the new tab. Allow pop-ups for the app and click Edit again. It opens the same design, it doesn’t make a second copy.

Can I get back to the AI request from the design? Yes. In the design editor, open Info, then the Repurpose tab. Under From, you’ll see the AI design request the design was made from. You can also open the request again from the AI Design tab of the Create page.

I deleted the AI design request. Is my edited design gone? No. Designs you made with Edit stay in Designs. Only the request and its versions are deleted.
