Orsa AI Credits and Limits
What uses your brand's AI credits, what you see when they run out, where to check how many are left, the hourly message limit, and why there's no model picker.
Orsa AI and the other AI features in Orsa run on your brand’s AI credits. Each plan comes with a monthly allowance, and you can top it up with an AI Credit Pack. Credits belong to the brand, so everyone on the brand shares the same allowance.
For plan allowances and prices, see Plans and Billing.
Quick start (5 minutes)
- Open your brand’s Subscription tab. Only the Owner and Admins see it.
- Under the title, read the line like 120 of 500 AI credits used this period.
- Look at the AI credits bar. It turns amber at 80% and says Almost full.
- Running low? Under Add-ons, click Buy next to AI Credit Pack, or pick a bigger plan.
What uses AI credits
These use your brand’s credits:
- Every Orsa AI reply, in the main chat on the Organize page and in the Design, Transcript, Document and Marketing Email editors. That includes the replies after you answer a question card, submit a design brief, or decide on draft cards.
- Designs Orsa AI makes for you, and each revised version of them. See Drafting Scripts, Documents, Emails and Designs.
- AI Design: each design and each revision. See AI Design Requests.
- AI blog writing: writing the outline and writing the post. See Writing a Blog with AI.
How much each one uses
Credits are counted by the amount of AI work, not by the number of messages. A short answer uses little. A long reply, a reply where Orsa AI looks up a lot, or a new design uses more.
Example: a quick “Suggest a better subject line” in the email editor uses far fewer credits than asking the main chat to make a 6-slide carousel.
Approving a card doesn’t use credits by itself. Orsa AI’s reply after it does.
When you run out of credits
When your brand has used all its credits, Orsa AI chats lock everywhere:
- Above the chat box you see “You’ve used all your AI credits for this plan. Upgrade your plan or buy an AI Credit Pack to keep chatting.”
- The chat box and the starter buttons are greyed out.
- Approving a new script, document or email draft, or a change to their details, doesn’t go through. You see the AI credit popup described below, and the card stays waiting.
- Answering a question card or submitting a design brief also shows the AI credit popup.
The chat box may not lock straight away. If you send a message before it does, you see a popup: “AI credit limit reached. Upgrade your plan or buy an AI Credit Pack to continue.” Click View plans in the popup to open your brand’s Subscription tab.
Other AI features stop too, and show the same popup: AI Design, AI blog writing, smart search, transcripts from video files, object select and erase in the image editor, website and product imports, Ask Memory, Discover analysis and Reddit search ideas, AI reports and the quality check. If several of them are blocked at once, you see one popup, not one per request.
Your chats, cards and content are all kept. Everything works again once you have credits.
Get more credits
You have three options:
- Buy an AI Credit Pack. It adds credits on top of your plan every month, until you cancel it. See Add-on packs.
- Move to a bigger plan. See Choose or upgrade a plan.
- Wait for your next billing period. Credits refill then. See When allowances refill.
Only the brand’s Owner and Admins can buy packs or change the plan. If you’re a Member, ask one of them.
Where to see your usage
On the brand’s Subscription tab:
- The line under the title says how many credits you’ve used, like 120 of 500 AI credits used this period. When credits run low it says AI credits are running low instead.
- The AI credits bar shows the same numbers, like 120 of 500 credits. At 80% it turns amber and says Almost full — an AI Credit Pack or plan upgrade adds room.
The tab shows your total only, not how much each feature used.
Members can’t see the Subscription tab. See Who can see the Subscription tab.
The last request before you run out can take you a little past your limit, so the numbers may show more used than your allowance.
The hourly message limit
To keep things running smoothly, each person can make up to 1,000 Orsa AI requests an hour. Sending a message, approving or cancelling a card, and answering a question each count as one. This limit is shared with some other actions in the app.
Most people never reach it. If you do, a popup says something like “Request was throttled. Expected available in 1200 seconds.” Wait that many seconds, then try again. Approving or cancelling a card shows “Failed to update message” instead.
The limit is per person, so a teammate can keep working.
There’s no model picker
You can’t choose which AI model Orsa AI uses. Orsa picks the model for each job, so there’s nothing to set up. The same goes for the editors, AI Design and AI blog writing.
Tips for the best results
- Watch the amber bar. At 80%, decide whether to buy a pack or slow down until the next period.
- Ask for what you need in one message. “3 Reel ideas for our spring launch, aimed at new parents” gets there faster than several vague messages.
- Start a new chat for a new topic. Shorter chats keep replies focused.
- Give clear feedback on designs. Each new design version uses more credits, so say exactly what to change.
- Use a pack for a busy month. An AI Credit Pack covers a campaign, and you can cancel it afterwards.
Common questions
I can’t type in the Orsa AI chat. Check the message above the chat box. “You’ve used all your AI credits for this plan.” means your brand is out of credits. “Answer or dismiss the question above to keep chatting.” means Orsa AI is waiting on a question card.
I bought a pack but the chat is still locked. Reload the page. The chat can keep showing the old count until you do.
I approved a card and saw “AI credit limit reached”. Your brand is out of credits. The card stays waiting. Approve it again once you have credits. See When you run out of credits.
Do my teammates have their own credits? No. Credits belong to the brand, and everyone on the brand shares them.
Do I get more credits if I add a second brand? Each brand has its own plan and its own credits. Credits don’t move between brands.
How many credits does one message use? It depends on how much work the reply takes. Check the AI credits bar on the Subscription tab before and after a few typical requests to get a feel for it.
Can I choose GPT or Claude? No. There’s no model picker. See There’s no model picker.
