Your First Day on Orsa

A short checklist to get from signup to your first piece of content.

Follow these steps in order the first time you use Orsa.

1. Verify your email

After you sign up and sign in, the app opens My Account. Click Verify next to your email and enter the code we email you. Most of the app stays locked until you do. See Signing Up and Logging In if the code doesn’t arrive.

2. Open your first brand

Signing up already created your first brand, using the brand name you entered. Open it from the brand switcher at the top of the sidebar. See Creating and Setting Up a Brand for the full walkthrough, including how to add more brands.

3. Finish brand setup

A new brand starts in “onboarding” — most of the sidebar stays greyed out until you’ve added at least one thing in every one of these tabs on your brand’s page:

  • Info — your brand’s description, at least one location, at least one content channel, and at least one content schedule
  • Audience — at least one audience profile
  • Kit — brand colors, fonts, and a Voice and tone description
  • Assets — at least one uploaded file
  • Pillars — at least one content pillar with at least one sub-pillar
  • Timeline — at least one timeline entry
  • Playbook — at least one section with a rule or category filled in

Once all of these are done, a Ready to Launch! banner appears at the top of your brand’s pages — click Complete Onboarding to unlock the rest of the app.

Example: a neighborhood bakery might add “Families and office workers nearby” as an audience, “Behind the scenes” as a pillar with “Morning bake” as a sub-pillar, and its grand reopening date as a timeline entry.

4. Invite your team (optional)

If you’re working with others, open your brand’s Settings tab and invite them by email — you’ll pick a role for them when you do. Only owners and admins see the Settings tab. Not required to finish onboarding, but worth doing early if this is a team effort.

5. Try the Design editor

Head to Create > Design and make your first design using your brand’s colors and assets. See Using the Design Editor.

6. Add a content idea

Open Organize > Ideas and jot down something you want to post about. See Planning Content with the Ideas Board.

7. Connect an account to Discover

If you want Orsa to track your social accounts, add them under your brand’s Discover tab. See Discover Sources.

8. Know where to find help later

Whenever you’re stuck, open Guides from your profile menu (bottom of the sidebar). The guides open at orsa.social/guides, where you can search for a topic or browse by category. You can also ask Orsa AI. This checklist only covers day one; every other part of the app has its own guide there.

Tips for the best results

The AI tools in Orsa read your brand setup when they create something for you. The more specific your brand setup is, the more the results sound like your brand.

  • Write a real description on the Info tab. If it’s empty, the AI only knows your brand’s name.
  • Be specific in Voice and tone. “Friendly” is vague. “Warm and chatty, like talking to a regular. Short sentences, no corporate words” gives the AI something to follow.
  • Add age ranges and interests to your audiences. The AI uses them to pick the right topics and wording.
  • Give every pillar at least one sub-pillar. When the AI writes content, it ignores pillars that have no active sub-pillars.
  • Add upcoming launches and events to your Timeline. Orsa AI looks about six weeks ahead and can suggest posts for them. It only sees an entry by its first start date, so add this year’s anniversary as a One Time entry.
  • Put your must-dos and never-dos in the Playbook. For example, “Always mention free delivery over $30” or “Never use slang”. These rules are applied when content is created, for the content types each rule is ticked for.
  • Give changes a few minutes. If you just edited your brand setup, an open Orsa AI chat can take up to 15 minutes to pick up the change.
