Pointing Orsa AI at Your Content with @ Mentions
Tag an idea, script, design, blog, document, email, social post, product or file in an Orsa AI chat with @, so Orsa AI reads exactly that item, including how to share library files.
Instead of describing an item, you can tag it in your message with an @ mention. Orsa AI then opens that exact item and reads it before it answers.
Example: “Write 3 caption options for @design Spring launch carousel, in the style of @post Our best-performing Reel.”
Mentions work in every Orsa AI chat: the main chat on the Organize page and the chats inside the editors. For Orsa AI basics, see Meet Orsa AI.
Quick start (5 minutes)
- Open the Organize page and click Ask Orsa AI.
- In the chat box, type
@idea. A search box opens with your ideas. - Type a few letters of the idea’s title to narrow the list.
- Click the idea, or use the arrow keys and press Enter. It turns into a colored tag in your message.
- Finish your message, like “Give me a stronger hook for this.”
- Press Enter to send. Orsa AI reads the idea in full before it replies.
Tag something with @
Type one of these in the chat box, then pick an item from the list:
| Type this | To tag | The list searches |
|---|---|---|
@idea |
A content idea | Your ideas |
@transcript |
A video script | Your transcripts |
@design |
A design | Your designs |
@blog |
A blog post | Your blogs |
@doc |
A document | Your documents |
@email |
A marketing email | Your marketing emails |
@post |
A post from your own social accounts | Your 20 most recent posts, or posts whose caption matches what you type |
@product |
A product or service | Your products |
@file |
A file from your Library | Your 20 most recently uploaded files, or files whose name matches what you type |
- Type after the
@word to search, like@design spring. - If nothing matches, the list says “No results found”.
- Press Esc to close the list without picking.
- You can tag several items in one message, even of different types.
- Click a tag in your sent message to open that item. Post tags open the post on its social platform in a new tab.
In a transcript’s own Orsa AI chat, the transcript you’re editing isn’t in the
@transcript list. Orsa AI already knows about it.
Use the Link buttons
Under the chat box there’s a row of small round buttons, one per type. Hover over one to see its name, like Link a design, Link a document or Link a file.
- Click where you want the tag in your message.
- Click a button. It types the matching
@word for you and opens the list. - Pick an item.
What Orsa AI reads for each type
When you tag an item, Orsa AI looks it up and reads:
| Tag | What Orsa AI reads |
|---|---|
| Idea | Title, description, content group, sub-pillars, every field value, tasks, the latest comments, and the content linked to it |
| Video script | Title, status, target length, the linked idea, and every scene’s title and script |
| Design | Name, status, caption, the text on its slides, its description, the linked idea, and its scheduled posts |
| Blog | Title, status, the full text, angle, keywords, SEO title and description, call to action, cover image, scheduled date and the linked idea |
| Document | Title, status, the full text and the linked idea |
| Marketing email | Subject line, preview text, status, the email itself, scheduled date and the linked idea |
| Social post | Platform, account, caption, AI description, spoken words, link, date, likes, comments, shares, saves, reach and views, plus each photo or video’s description |
| Product | Name, tagline, description, key features, price, location, link and any promotion running now. See Products and Promotions |
| File | File name, type, size, a link to it, and, when available, an AI description of what’s in it and any spoken words |
Orsa AI reads the description of a design or file, not the picture itself. In the main chat it doesn’t see your slides or photos. In the Design editor, Orsa AI can look at the design you’re editing. See Orsa AI in the Editors.
Sharing files with Orsa AI
There’s no upload button in the Orsa AI chat. To share a photo, video or document with Orsa AI:
- Upload it to your brand’s Library first. See Uploading Files.
- In the chat, type
@file(or click Link a file). - Type part of the file name and pick it.
Orsa AI reads the file’s details and description. It can also use tagged files as images when it has a design made for you. See Drafting Assets and Designs.
Example: a florist uploads wedding-arch-june.jpg, then asks “Write an Instagram caption for @file wedding-arch-june.jpg. It’s our biggest arch yet.”
Tell Orsa AI what’s in the file when it matters. A file’s AI description isn’t always there, and Orsa AI can’t see the picture itself.
Deleted or missing items
When you send a message, Orsa checks every tag in it:
- If the item was deleted, or belongs to another brand, the tag in your sent message says not found. Orsa AI is told the item no longer exists, and it will say it can’t find it.
- If the item is deleted later, Orsa AI can’t open it anymore when you come back to the chat. Tag a different item instead.
Tags in older messages keep the name the item had when you sent them, even if it was renamed since.
Ideas for using mentions
Compare two things.
“Why did @post Behind the scenes at the bakery do better than @post New croissant flavors?”
Build on an idea.
“Write a 30-second Reel script for @idea 5 ways to style a linen shirt.”
Promote a product.
“Give me 3 ideas to promote @product Deep Tissue Massage this month.”
Reuse your own writing.
“Turn @doc Spring newsletter notes into 3 LinkedIn post ideas.”
Tips for the best results
- Tag instead of describing. “@design Spring sale” is exact. “The green design from last week” makes Orsa AI guess.
- Add what you want done. A tag on its own tells Orsa AI what to look at, not what to do with it.
- Name your files well.
@filesearches by file name, so storefront-autumn.jpg is easier to find than IMG_4821.jpg. - Upload first, then tag. Files must be in your Library before you can tag them.
- Describe images yourself. Say what’s in a photo if it matters to the answer.
Common questions
Where’s the upload or paperclip button?
There isn’t one. Upload the file to your Library, then tag it with @file. See
Sharing files with Orsa AI.
My file doesn’t appear in the @file list. The list shows your 20 most recent uploads. Type part of the file name to search. Files still uploading, and deleted files, don’t appear.
My post doesn’t appear in the @post list. The list only has posts from your brand’s own connected accounts, not stories, and not posts from accounts you track in Discover. Type a few words from the caption to search.
Orsa AI says it can’t find the item I tagged. The item was deleted, or it’s not in this brand. Tag it again, or pick a different one.
Orsa AI described my photo wrong. Orsa AI reads a description of the file, not the image itself, and the description may be missing or rough. Tell Orsa AI what’s in the photo.
Can I tag a teammate? No. @ mentions in Orsa AI are for content, not people. To mention a teammate, use comments. See Comments and Mentions.
