Orsa AI in the Editors — Design, Transcript, Document and Email

How to open Orsa AI inside the Design, Transcript, Document and Marketing Email editors, what it can see there, what it can change with your approval, and how each editor's chat stays with its item.

Every Design, Transcript (video script), Document and Marketing Email editor has its own Orsa AI chat. That chat is about the item you have open. Orsa AI can read it, suggest changes, and make them once you approve.

This is different from the main Orsa AI chat on the Organize page, which works across your whole brand. For Orsa AI basics, see Meet Orsa AI.

Quick start (5 minutes)

  1. Open a design from the Designs tab of the Create page.
  2. Click the Orsa AI tab in the side panel.
  3. Type “Make the headline on this page bigger and use our main brand color.” and press Enter.
  4. Orsa AI replies with a card that says Orsa AI wants to edit the design. It lists each change, like EDIT with the new font size and color.
  5. Click Approve. You see “Design updated”, and the change is on the canvas.
  6. Don’t like it? Use the editor’s undo. The whole approved edit undoes in one step.

Open Orsa AI in each editor

Editor Where to click Starters you’ll see
Design The Orsa AI tab in the side panel Suggest an image for this design, Suggest captions for this design
Transcript The Orsa AI tab in the right panel. It’s the tab that opens first Rewrite this scene’s script, Draft a new video script from scratch
Document Ask Orsa AI at the bottom right Improve the writing in this document, Suggest a better title
Marketing email The Orsa AI tab in the right sidebar Suggest a better subject line, Help me write and design a marketing email

The starters only show while the chat is empty. Click one, or type your own request.

On a locked design, the Orsa AI tab is hidden. See Locked designs.

What Orsa AI can see in every editor

In every editor, Orsa AI reads your brand details before it replies:

  • your brand’s name, About text, and Brand Kit voice and tone,
  • your Playbook rules for that kind of content,
  • your Brand Memory for that kind of content,
  • your content pillars and audiences,
  • the content idea the item is linked to, if there is one.

Orsa AI can also look up your products, your other content and anything you tag with @. See Mentions and Files.

Orsa AI reads the saved version of your item. If you’ve just typed something, wait a few seconds for it to save before you ask.

Brand changes can take up to 15 minutes to reach the editor chats. See When brand changes reach Orsa AI.

Every change needs your approval

Orsa AI never changes the item on its own. Each change comes as a card:

  1. Read the card. It shows exactly what will change.
  2. Click Approve to apply it, or Cancel to say no.
  3. With several cards waiting, use Approve All or Reject All in the bar above the chat box.

Reading the item, searching your files and saving to Brand Memory happen without a card.

Orsa AI doesn’t reply after you approve or cancel in an editor. Send your next message to carry on. If you cancelled something, say why, like “Too formal, try again.”

For more about cards, see Approving Orsa AI’s Actions.

Orsa AI in the Design editor

What Orsa AI sees

  • The design’s name, caption and its linked idea, with the idea’s sub-pillars and audiences.
  • Your Brand Kit colors and fonts, and your brand’s visual identity rules for this design’s size.
  • The page you’re looking at when you send a message. Orsa AI can look at the other pages too when it needs to.
  • Photos by their file descriptions, not the picture itself.

What Orsa AI can change

Card says What it does
Orsa AI wants to edit the design Changes the canvas. Each change is listed with a label: EDIT, ADD, DELETE, COPY, ARRANGE, ALIGN, PAGE, ADD PAGE, COPY PAGE, DELETE PAGE or MOVE PAGE
Orsa AI wants to update design Sets a New caption or a New name
Orsa AI wants to add generated slides to this design Adds newly made slides at the end of the design, with a preview

On an edit card, each change shows a small picture of the element and what will be different, like a new color swatch or the new text.

More it can do

  • Find photos in your Library that match a description, and place one with an edit card.
  • Add icons from a large free icon library.
  • Cut out a photo’s background. The cut-out is saved to your Library right away. Orsa AI then shows an edit card to swap it into the design.
  • Write captions in your brand’s style, using your past captions as examples.
  • Make new slides. Like in the main chat, Orsa AI may show a design brief form first. See Drafting Scripts, Documents, Emails and Designs.

Example: “Add a slide at the end with our logo and ‘Book now at the link in bio’.” Approve the ADD PAGE and ADD changes.

Orsa AI in the Transcript editor

What Orsa AI sees

  • The transcript’s title, platform, number of scenes and its linked idea.
  • The scene you have open, and every other scene when it needs them.
  • The words in your Source Files. See Source Files: link your recording.

What Orsa AI can change

Card says What it does
Orsa AI wants to update scene Changes a scene’s title or script, and can add directions
Orsa AI wants to create new scene Adds a new scene with its script and directions
Orsa AI wants to rename the transcript Shows Rename to “…”
Orsa AI wants to create new content idea / Orsa AI wants to update a content idea Adds or changes an idea on your Ideas board

A scene card names the scene, like Scene: Hook, and shows Current when it’s the scene you have open. Click the scene name to jump to it.

Directions Orsa AI suggests are added to the scene’s existing directions. Ones the scene already has aren’t added twice.

Open the scene you want changed before you approve a scene card.

Example: open the “Hook” scene and type “Give me a punchier hook under 10 words for busy parents.” Approve Orsa AI wants to update scene.

Orsa AI in the Document editor

What Orsa AI sees

  • The document’s title, description, status, and the sub-pillar and audiences of its linked idea.
  • The whole saved text, and the comments on it, including which text each comment is on.

What Orsa AI can change

Card says What it does
Orsa AI wants to edit the document Changes, adds or removes specific paragraphs, headings or lists
Orsa AI wants to rewrite the document Replaces the whole text
Orsa AI wants to update document title Renames the document

Orsa AI can also find photos in your Library or on Unsplash to add with an edit card.

For the labels on edit cards, inline Ask Orsa AI and the toolbar rewrites, see Editing Documents with Orsa AI.

Example: “Turn the comments on this brief into edits.” Orsa AI reads each comment and proposes the matching changes on one card.

Orsa AI in the Marketing Email editor

What Orsa AI sees

  • The subject line, preview text, status and the email’s code.
  • The linked idea, and the content the email was repurposed from, if any.
  • The photos you added under Files to Use in Configure.
  • Your brand colors, and the real web pages of your locations, so it links to pages that exist instead of making them up.

What Orsa AI can change

Card says What it does
Orsa AI wants to update MJML code Writes or redesigns the whole email
Orsa AI wants to update subject line Shows the New Subject Line
Orsa AI wants to update preview text Changes the inbox preview line

On an update MJML code card:

  1. Click View Suggestion to see the new email on the AI Suggestion tab.
  2. If you like it, click Approve on the card in the chat.
  3. If you don’t, click Cancel on the card.

If you use Apply Changes on the AI Suggestion tab instead, the card in the chat still shows Approve. Don’t approve it later. That would put this version back over any edits you made since. More on the email editor in Get help from Orsa AI.

Example: “Make it shorter, keep only the offer and one button.” Click View Suggestion, check it, then Approve.

One chat per item

Each item has its own Orsa AI chat, and it’s private to you.

  • The chat stays with the item. Open the item again and your chat is still there.
  • There’s no chat list or New chat button in the editors. Each item has one ongoing chat per person.
  • Teammates who open the same item have their own chat. They don’t see yours.
  • Editor chats don’t show in the chat list on the Organize page.
  • In long chats, older messages are summarized, so early details can fade. See How Orsa AI handles long chats.

What you approve is saved to the item, so everyone sees it.

Ideas for using Orsa AI in the editors

Fix a slide’s layout.

“The text on page 2 is crowded. Make it two lines and center it.”

Turn a recording into a script.

Add your interview under Source Files, then ask “Pull the three best tips from my recording into three short scenes.”

Tighten a document before review.

Click Improve the writing in this document, read each change on the card, then Approve.

Rewrite an email for a new offer.

“Change this to a 48-hour flash sale, 15% off, with a countdown feel in the headline.” Check with View Suggestion, then Approve.

Tips for the best results

  • Wait for your changes to save. Orsa AI reads the saved item. If it reads an old version, its change may not apply.
  • Say where. “The headline on page 3” or “the second paragraph under Pricing” works better than “make it shorter”.
  • Link the item to an idea. Orsa AI then knows the idea, its pillar and its audience.
  • Fill in your Brand Kit. Editor chats use your voice and tone, and the Design editor uses your colors and fonts.
  • Approve one round at a time. Approve or cancel the waiting cards before you ask for the next change.
  • Tell Orsa AI why you cancelled. It continues on its own once you’ve decided on every card, and knows which ones you cancelled, but not why.

Common questions

I approved an edit and saw “The design changed since the AI read it — ask the AI to try again”. The design was changed after Orsa AI read it, so nothing was applied. Ask Orsa AI again.

I see “Orsa AI’s edit couldn’t be applied, so nothing was changed. Ask Orsa AI to try again.” Something in the edit didn’t work, so the design was left as it was. Ask Orsa AI to try again, or describe the change in a different way.

I approved a scene change and the card says Failed. Open the scene in the left panel first, then ask Orsa AI again and approve the new card.

A scene card says “Deleted scene (no longer available)”. The scene was deleted after Orsa AI suggested the change. Cancel the card.

Where’s the Orsa AI tab on my design? It’s hidden while a design is locked by a scheduled or published post. See Locked designs.

Orsa AI didn’t reply after I approved its change. Orsa AI continues once every waiting card in the chat is approved or cancelled. Check for another waiting card, or send your next message to carry on.

Can I start a fresh chat for this item? No. Each item has one chat per person. If the chat is long, restate the key details in your message.

Orsa AI can’t see my photo. Orsa AI reads the description of a photo, not the photo itself. Tell Orsa AI what’s in it.

Does chatting in the editors use AI credits? Yes. Every Orsa AI reply uses your brand’s AI credits. When they run out, the chat box is locked. See Credits and Limits.
